Questions and answers

Key terms, clearly explained

What is IPTV?

IPTV is the delivery of TV channels and video content over a computer network instead of a traditional antenna or cable installation. Screens connect to the same network as the rest of the building's equipment.

What is digital signage?

Digital signage means screens that show information, promotions or ads and are managed centrally over the network. Instead of printed posters, content is changed from one place, for one or hundreds of sites.

What is a head-end?

It is the central part of an IPTV system that receives TV signals (from satellite, terrestrial antenna or the internet), processes them and sends them over the network to every screen in the building.

Do we need a separate network?

Usually not; the system runs over the existing network. Before installation we check capacity and, if needed, put video traffic in a separate zone so it does not interfere with other systems.

What is PMS integration in a hotel?

A PMS is the hotel system for managing reservations and guests. When IPTV is connected to it, the room screen can greet the guest by name, show their language and offer hotel services.

How is a professional display different from a TV?

Professional and hospitality displays are built for long operating hours and central management: they have locked settings, more reliable cooling and support for IPTV and signage platforms. An ordinary TV is not designed for that kind of use. Hospitality displays also have a built-in set-top box, so they play TV channels without extra devices and guests use one remote instead of two. That is what sets a professional system apart from a home one.

Can we change the content ourselves?

Yes. After training, your team prepares and schedules content and channels on its own, and we remain on hand for settings, extensions and faults.

What happens when a screen loses its network connection?

A signage screen usually keeps showing the last downloaded content, and when the connection returns it picks up changes automatically. That way a point of sale is never left with a blank screen.
